IADR Symposium report Special Supplement in the March 2020 Issue of Community Dental Health

doi:

Abstract

The March issue of Community Dental Health contained a special supplement containing a series of outstanding papers on the theme of Random and Systematic Bias in Population Oral Health Research. The papers were due to be presented in a symposium at the IADR/AADR/CADR General Session & Exhibition scheduled for March 18-21, 2020 in Washington. Sadly, that meeting had to be cancelled, due to the world wide COVID-19 outbreak. The symposium and supplement were organised by one of our International Advisers, Dr Lisa Jamieson, of the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health, University of Adelaide. Lisa had started planning everything a year in advance and the journals had, necessarily, been printed months before the symposium. Consequently, Community Dental Health published the papers, but they were not presented at the symposium. Due to the Lisa’s careful planning, all the papers had been peer reviewed before publication and so whilst not presented at the meeting, they stand in their own right as excellent contributions to our understanding of bias in population oral health research.
